Antic wins triple jump at Steve Scott Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. – Led by a win in the triple jump from Tijana Antic, the Fresno State track and field teams captured 15 top-10 finishes on the weekend at the Steve Scott Invitational. The women's team produced seven top-five results on the second day of the meet. Â

Antic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, captured her first event win of the season landing a season-best mark of 12.41m/40-8.75 in the triple jump. It was the junior's first jump over 12 meters this spring, and ranks third this season in the Mountain West, as she came within less than two inches of her personal best. Breanna Covington also took fourth in the event with a mark of 12.04m/39-6.

Ellie Leather posted a pair of top-five results and top-10 marks in the Fresno State record book. First, the sophomore placed fourth in the 800 meters at 2:09.19, a mark that ranks sixth in program history. Leather then dropped a 4:27.62 in the 1500 meters to place second. The time moved her up to fourth all-time at Fresno State in the event.

Also notching a second-place finish was Mona Gottschammer in the high jump as the freshman cleared 1.70m/5-7 in her first meet since March 16.

Fresno State's 4x400 relay team turned in its best time of the season, narrowly placing second behind UNLV with a mark of 3:40.44. It stands as the fourth-fastest time in the conference this season.

Patricija Roshofa recorded the Bulldogs' final top-five result as the freshman placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 54.54.

Up Next
Fresno State will be off next weekend as the Bulldogs prepare for the Mountain West Outdoor Championships. The four-day meet will take place from May 8-11 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, California.
