No. 15 Fresno State to host No. 20 SDSU and No. 25 CBU for Senior Weekend

FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 15 Fresno State water polo team will host its last regular season home games this weekend. The Bulldogs aim to finish Golden Coast Conference play strong against No. 20 San Diego State on Friday, April 5 at 12 p.m. PT and No. 25 Cal Baptist on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. PT in the Aquatics Center.
Fresno State will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, honoring the team's two seniors Isabella Magno and Mackenzie Richards. Senior Day festivities are set to begin at 12:45 p.m. PT.Â
Promotions – Friday's game will feature a live trombone edition of the national anthem. There will be an in-game pizza giveaway for Fresno State students, and a taco giveaway for all fans in attendance. Fresno State water polo autograph cards will be available at both games.
Admission and parking are free to all Fresno State water polo games.

QUICK LOOK AT THE 'DOGS
Fresno State is 9-13 (1-2 GCC) this season.
Game Notes:
Isabella Magno was elected a 2018-19 co-captain. The Manhattan Beach, Calif. native has played in 45 games on the attack for the Bulldogs. She has scored 30 goals, dished 17 assists and swiped 22 steals. Magno recorded a career-high four goals in the Bulldogs' 16-6 win over Fresno Pacific on Feb. 9, 2018. After graduation, she plans to get her teaching credential in special education and then pursue her master's degree.
Mackenzie Richards has played 29 games in goal for the Bulldogs. The Simi Valley, Calif. native has grabbed 170 saves and swiped 32 steals. Richards emerged as the starting goalkeeper this season, and has recorded 10+ saves in six games. Richards recorded a career-high 11 saves against then-No. 11 Michigan on Jan. 20. After graduation, she plans to go back to school to become a radiologist technician and then go to medical school to become the radiologist.
"These two young women were put in a unique position to have only two years to learn and fulfill their collegiate careers through the start of this new program," head coach Natalie Benson said. "By choosing to attend Fresno State, they chose to take on the responsibility of being the first upperclassmen of the group, while also trying to figure out the program for themselves. I respect them for their commitment to the team in our beginning stages, and wish nothing but the best for them both as they move into their professional careers."

NATIONALLY SPEAKINGÂ
After starting the 2019 season unranked, the Bulldogs have pushed their way up to No. 15 in the national rankings. The Bulldogs' have reached as high as No. 13 this season. Fresno State has been ranked within the Top 15 for nine consecutive weeks.
RANKED WINSÂ
Fresno State has knocked off four ranked opponents this season. Fresno State, unranked at the time, upset No. 13 Indiana 12-7 on Jan. 20. A week later, then-No. 17 Fresno State defeated No. 11 Long Beach State 11-9 on Jan. 26. Then-No. 13 Fresno State defeated No. 15 Long Beach and No. 21 Marist in the 2019 Wolverine Invitational, March 2-3. Most recently, No. 15 Fresno State defeated No. 23 Azusa Pacific 11-9.

THREE BULLDOGS EARN GCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
Fresno State leads the Golden Coast Conference with four GCC Player of the Week selections this season.Â
The eight Golden Coast Conference women's water polo head coaches tabbed reigning GCC champion Pacific to win the 2019 regular season title. In just its second season of competition, Fresno State was picked to finish fourth. The poll put Pacific (48 votes, 5 first place votes), Loyola Marymount (43 votes, 2 first place votes) and San Diego State (38 votes) at the top of the conference. Fresno State (29 votes) and California Baptist (27 votes) were slated to finish in the middle. Azusa Pacific (18 votes), Santa Clara (14 votes) and Concordia (7 votes) filled the last three spots to round out the preseason rankings.

OVERVIEWÂ
The Bulldogs return 10 letterwinners, including their top two scorers and All-GCC selections in Emily Nicholson and Callie Woodruff. Fresno State also returned goalkeeper Madelynn Garcia, after emerging as the primary goalie last season. Garcia finished the 2018 season with 132 saves and a team-high 25 steals. The Bulldogs bolstered their roster with eight freshman.

Fresno State wrapped up the program's inaugural season with a 7-18 (3-4 GCC) record and finished sixth in the Golden Coast Conference Championships. The first-year program had two All-GCC selections, including the Co-Newcomer of the Year Nicholson, who also received AWPC All-America honors.
2019 GCC CHAMPIONSHIP
Fresno State will host the 2019 Golden Coast Conference Championship April 26-28 in the Aquatics Center. Tickets can be purchased at the gate to the Aquatics Center one hour prior to the start of the first game each day. There will be no advance ticket sales. Single day tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children and students. All-session passes will be $30 for adults and $15 for children and students.

- Trystyn Vuori was named the GCC Player of the Week on Jan. 31. Vuori led the Bulldogs to victory over the No. 11 49ers, scoring a career-high four goals. This was the first time in program history that Fresno State recorded back-to-back GCC Player of the Week Awards.Â
- Callie Woodruff was named the GCC Player of the Week on Feb. 14, after she helped lead the Bulldogs to a 23-4 win over Fresno Pacific. Woodruff tied her career-high with five goals in the game, she also dished one assist and swiped one steal.
- Woodruff was named the GCC Player of the Week for the second time this season on March 5, after leading the Bulldogs to a 3-1 week at the Wolverine Invitational. Woodruff scored a team-high 12 goals in three games, averaging three goals per game. She recorded a hat trick in Fresno State's 17-7 victory over St. Francis, and a hat trick in the 14-11 victory over No. 15 Long Beach State. Woodruff tied her season-high with four goals in the 14-6 win over No. 21 Marist College.
