- Saturday's matchup pits the Mountain West's No. 3 (Nevada) and No. 4 (Fresno State) teams, based on win percentage, against one another in a pivotal game to maintain striking distance for a MW Championship Game berth.
- Both teams share one common loss - each coming from Hawai'i - who is 3-3 this season.
- The MW standings have two teams with one conference loss, Fresno State (3-1) and Nevada (5-1), and two teams without a loss, Boise State (4-0) and San Jose State (4-0).
- The Bulldogs encountered their first game cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, losing games to San Jose State (Nov. 21) and San Diego State (Nov. 27). It was the first game cancellation for Fresno State since its 2013 matchup against Colorado when Boulder experienced record rainfall.
- Fresno State and Nevada will meet for the 52nd time in its all-time series history, a series that dates back 1923.
- The 2020 edition features the Mountain West's top two offenses. The 'Dogs No. 1 (467.2 yards/game) and Nevada No. 2 (446.5 yards/game).
- The Bulldogs are averaging 37.7 points per game and 486.7 total yards of offense per game during their current three-game winning streak.
- With one touchdown on Saturday, Ronnie Rivers will set the program's record for most touchdowns in a career. He is currently tied at 44 with Anthony Daigle (1991-93).
- Rivers has scored at least one touchdown in 12 consecutive games, an active streak that leads the NCAA.
- Last time out, Rivers became the first player in Fresno State history to record 2,500 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in a career.
