Madarieta places third in pentathlon to open UW Invitational

SEATTLE – Fresno State's women's track and field team returned to Dempsey Indoor on Friday to compete in the UW Invitational. Noelina Madarieta scored the team's top finish of the day, placing third in the pentathlon.
Madarieta closed out the day with a career-best 3,453 points. The senior's top event came in the 800 meters as she placed second with a time of 2:31.92. Madarieta also finished third in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump.
In the weight throw, Tahj'nee Thurston placed sixth with a career-long toss of 17.66m. Hanna Chappell was right behind her teammate in seventh after tying her career mark of 17.20m, which she previously set two weeks early in Seattle.
The UW Invitational will continue tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT.
