With a combined seven Bulldog pitchers combining to limit the Mustangs to five singles in the contest, Fresno State (3-4) fired up the offense as well smacking three home and five doubles while totaling 16 hits as a team.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was freshman second baseman Andrew Kachel who went deep twice with a pair of home runs while driving in five runs.
Junior outfielder Nate Thimjon smacked his team-leading fourth home run with a three-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sophomore designated hitter Ryan Higgins collected a career-high three hits, including a pair of doubles, drove in two RBIs and scored a run.
Four other 'Dogs recorded multi-hit games as nine total Bulldogs collected a hit in the game.
On the mound, Fresno State used a collection of seven hurlers to shut down a Cal Poly offense and not allow a single Mustang runner past second base.
Freshman southpaw Jake Harrell earned his first win tossing 1.2 innings in relief of starter Alex Kendrick who threw 3.1 innings in his first career start and struck out one.
How It Happened
The 'Dogs struck early and often on Tuesday getting started with a four-run bottom of the second as Kachel smacked a two-run home run to left field to give the 'Dogs a 2-0 lead and added RBI singles by Higgins (watch) and catcher Zach Presno (watch).
After being held off the scoreboard for three innings, the Bulldogs ignited the offense back up in the sixth inning with three-straight innings scoring three runs apiece in each frame.Â
Thimjon's long ball to left field in the sixth (watch) pushed the 'Dogs ahead 7-0. Getting the eighth run on an RBI groundout by outfielder Miles Tomczak, three consecutive doubles drove home two more runs for a 10-0 lead.
The scoring wrapped up in the eighth inning with Kachel's second home run of the game powering a ball to right field for the final tally of 13-0.

Head Coach Mike Batesole
On freshman Alex Kendrick's performance....
"You could just feel him getting better. You could feel it every time he takes the ball his chest gets a little bit further out. That's a kid with outstanding Friday night stuff. When he's a junior he's going to be something to deal with. Right now he has some growing pains to go through. His stuff is so good he gets away with not having to deal with a lot of that to this point. There will be a few coming, but I love what he's doing. I love the way he's charging it up there and his stuff is electric."
On the freshman class....Â
"I don't know how many freshmen we played, but a couple of times there were five on the field. They're our best players. We've just got to work our way through that and the only way freshmen get better is to make mistakes. We've got to plow through this, get through this weekend, get to Arizona State, get through Oklahoma State and then I think we'll know who we are. It has a chance to be pretty good, but I don't know if it's going to be pretty good before then."
Fresno State hosts Columbia (0-0)Â on Friday through Sunday for Pride of the Valley Weekend.
