Jumping Seat shines in 14-4 win over No. 10 UT-Martin

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 6 Fresno State equestrian team used an 8-1-1 win in the Jumping Seat events to propel itself to a 14-4 win over No. 10 UT-Martin at the Student Horse Center on Friday afternoon. Fresno State improves to 5-4 on the year.
"I am very proud of this team to bounce back from last weekend and put in a dominant performance today," head coach Eric Hubbard said on the team's win. "Our MOPs put in outstanding rides that led their team to the win."

Three Bulldogs earned Most Outstanding Performer honors versus the Skyhawks as sophomore Cecily Hayes picked up her second Fences MOP of the season, and fourth of her career. Sophomores Lexee Padrick (Reining) and Hannah Buijs (Horsemanship) swept the Western MOP's with their rides against the Skyhawks.

How it happened
The morning began with the Fences and Horsemanship. The Bulldogs swept the Fences for the first time this season with points from Hayes, Annastasia Anstead, Alivia Hart, Erica Rosinski and Ana Bertozzi. Hart had the largest margin of victory in the event over UT-Martin's Tyler Anderson, 68-38.

UT-Martin scored its first point of the meet with a 73.5-72 from Bailey Newlin in the Horsemanship. Sophomore Kameron Thorn opened up scoring for the 'Dogs with a 67-55.5 ride against Paige Benson. Thorn has won three of her last four rides this season and boasts a 5-1-1 record on the year.

Sophomore Brooklyn Moch earned her Horsemanship point with a 69-65.5 ride over Tess Baumann while fellow sophomore Buijs sealed the event with a 74.5-72 showing against Lucy Eier. Fresno State took the Horsemanship, 3-2.

The Bulldogs had an 8-2 lead at the intermission.

Fresno State continued its Jumping Seat success with a 3-1 win in the Flat, with a tie from Bertozzi. Hayes remained undefeated on the day with a 83 to her opponent's 81. Anstead and Rosinski join the sophomore Bulldog with 2-0 records on the day. Anstead had the largest win in the event with a 76-58 win over Randi LaChance.

In the Reining, Fresno State outscored UT-Martin 3-1 to close out the meet. Padrick earned her first MOP of the season with a 69-68.5 outing. Padrick improves to 5-3 in the event. Senior Shea Gilson and freshman Bailey Alexander picked up their points for the 'Dogs.

Fresno State returns to action at the Student Horse Center tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. against California rival, UC Davis. Parking and admission to all Fresno State equestrian events are free.
