'Dogs continue win streak with 5-2 win over Santa Clara

FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno State men's tennis team won their fourth straight match, defeating Santa Clara 5-2 at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The Bulldogs improve to 8-5 this season and are currently ranked No. 48 in the country heading into a week with three matches.Â
DoublesÂ
Fresno State led early on, taking the doubles point to begin the match. The 'Dogs first win came at the No. 2 spot with the pairing of Johannes Seeman and Daniel Baturyn winning 6-3. Following them at the No. 1 spot Cagatay Soke and Johannes Seeman sealed the point with a 6-3 win over Santa Clara's Jesus Barajas and Santiago Hinojosa.Â
Singles
After earning the point in doubles play Fresno State dropped only one match in singles play before sealing their win. The teams split the final two matches of the day after the match was clinched.
Santa Clara leveled the dual at 1-1 at the No. 2 spot with the Broncos' Mann Shah defeating Fresno State's Johannes Seeman 6-4, 7-6. The Bulldogs took the match at the No. 5 spot shortly after where Henrique Osorio won 7-6, 6-1. Zdenek Derkas took yet another match at the No. 1 position, winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Alexey Aleschev's No. 3 spot win (3-6, 7-5, 6-4) sealed the win for Fresno State.
