Bulldogs' win streak ends against No. 34 Arizona

FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State's men's tennis team dropped its first match in its last five, falling to No. 34 Arizona, 4-1, Monday night at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
Doubles
The Bulldogs got the match going in the right direction early, claiming the doubles point to start. The first win came at the No. 3 spot with Alexey Aleschev and Henrique Osorio winning 6-1. Following this, the pairing of Johannes Seeman and Cagatay Soke sealed the point with a 6-4 win.Â
Singles
Although Fresno State won the doubles point, Arizona took four straight singles matches to clinch the win.Â
The Wildcats started off hot, taking the win at the No. 6 spot with Nick Lagaev defeating Osorio 6-2, 6-2. Arizona followed with two more straight-set wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots before the Bulldogs forced a third set. With the 'Dogs leading at both the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, the Wildcats ended the match with a win at the No. 1 position. Where No. 55 Jonas Ziverts ousted Zdenek Derkas 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.Â

The Bulldogs are set to host Gonzaga this Thursday at 11 a.m. PT.Â
