'Dogs rank ninth nationally in attendance

NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. -Â For the third consecutive season, Fresno State Wrestling finished in the top 10 in the nation in home dual meet attendance as released by the National Wrestling Media Association on Friday.
After finishing with the fifth-highest attendance in the country in their first year back on the mat in 2017-18, the 'Dogs ranked ninth in the country for a second consecutive season in 2019-20.
With an average home attendance of 2,596 at the 'Dogs six home duals this season, the Bulldogs ranked third in the Big 12 behind Iowa State (3rd) and Oklahoma State (6th).
"We want to thank the Red Wave for continuing to support our program this season and we look forward to filling the Save Mart Center in even larger numbers next year," head coach Troy Steiner said.
The 'Dogs had over 1,800 Red Wave supporters at all eight home duals with a season-high attendance of 3,584 in the season opener against Rutgers.

The 2019-20 numbers tied a record for most schools reporting an average of 1,000 fans per match, tying last year's mark of 24. There were 14 more schools that exceeded averages of 700 per dual, where last year, there were just seven. Of the top 25 teams, 15 saw increases in average attendance from last season.
