FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 6 Fresno State equestrian team dropped a close-fought battle to the No. 1 Oklahoma State Cowgirls at the Student Horse Center on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs fell 10-9 in the meet. Fresno State moves to 3-3 on the season, including a jumping seat only win against Lynchburg.
Â
The Bulldogs and Cowgirls split the Most Outstanding Performer honors on Friday as the 'Dogs earned the MOP in the flat and reining. Senior Cecily Hayes earned her third MOP honor in the flat this season while junior Hannah Hieber picked up her first honor in the reining.
Â
The morning began with the fences and horsemanship. Fresno State won two points in the fences, falling in the event 3-2. Fresno State's points came from Lizzie Stodden and Ana Bertozzi. Stodden scored an 81 to her opponent's 78. Bertozzi won her point on a 80-72 ride.
Â
In the horsemanship, Fresno State earned one point from Hannah Buijs in a 72.5-65.5 edging.
Â
At the break, Oklahoma State led 7-3. Fresno State had a successful second half, winning both events but it was not enough to overcome what the Cowgirls had done in the opening set of events.
Â

Taylor Holstead picked up the next point with a 82.5-81.5 edging. Bertozzi remained undefeated on the day, picking up the third Bulldog point with a 82-79 ride.
