Hanna Cavinder selected MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State's Hanna Cavinder was named Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. The weekly honor is Cavinder's first this season and third of her career.
Cavinder was instrumental in the Bulldogs' sweep of Air Force last week, pacing the team in scoring with 20.5 points per game.
In Game 1, Cavinder recorded a game-high 24 points, scoring 17 in the first half to help Fresno State to a 20-point lead. As the Falcons cut the Bulldogs' lead to single digits in the third quarter, Cavinder helped the 'Dogs to five points at the end of the period to bring their advantage back to 11.
Game 2 saw the sophomore score 10 of her 17 points in the second half as the Bulldogs overcame a 10-point halftime deficit. Cavinder's defensive impact was on display late in the third quarter, forcing a 10-second violation and picking up a steal in the backcourt to help Fresno State to seven unanswered points to close the period during a 25-6 quarter.
Fresno State has claimed four of the last five weekly awards. With their fifth of the season, the Bulldogs matched the most they have ever received in a year (2019-20).
