Bulldogs fall at Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Diamond 'Dogs dropped a hard-fought contest at Pacific, 3-2 on Wednesday evening at Klein Family Field.
With 14 position players and six pitchers seeing action, Fresno State (5-6) saw five players with base hits as outfielder EJ Andrews, Jr. had a pair of singles while designated hitter Emilio Nogales had a single and scored a run.
Senior right fielder Nate Thimjon drove in his team-leading eighth RBI of the season with a single in the fifth while Dylan Johnson and Ryan Higgins had the 'Dogs two other hits.
On the mound, sophomore Alex Kendrick made his first start of the season tossing two innings allowing two hits, one earned run while striking out two.
Cooper Bergman threw two innings followed by one inning apiece by Kevin Larson, Kyle Pruhsmeier, Nik Cardinal and Robbie Peters.Â
How It Happened
Pacific got out to a 2-0 start with one run in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single and added a solo home run in the third inning by Ben Nemivant.
The 'Dogs battled back to tie the score at 2-2 scoring a run in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Thimjon to left field and Thimjon came back up in the seventh hitting into a double play that allowed Nogales to score from third base.
The game was decided in the bottom of the seventh as Pacific scored the eventual game-winning run on a two-out RBI double by Chaz Meyers. The Tigers held the 'Dogs to one hit over the final two innings to give Fresno State its first loss to Pacific since 2017.
