Lloren & Parco punch tickets to NCAA Championships

TULSA, Okla. - A pair of Bulldogs punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships on Sunday at the Big 12 Championship hosted at the BOK Center.
Redshirt senior DJ Lloren earned his second trip to the NCAA Championships in as many years with a third-place finish at 141 pounds. A year after being an at-large qualifier at the weight, Lloren earned an automatic berth this year by winning a pair of matches on Sunday.
The Clovis native, who improved to 12-1 on the season, defeated No. 7 seed Dylan Droegemueller (North Dakota State), 14-4 in the consolation semifinals (watch) and then topped No. 3 seed Clay Carlson (South Dakota State), 6-4 in the third place match.
Redshirt freshman Kyle Parco joins Lloren as an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championships as he placed third at 149 pounds. Coming into the tournament unseeded, Parco went 4-1 on the weekend adding two more wins on Sunday. The Concord, Calif. native, who is 13-1 on the season, defeated fellow unseeded wrestler Jaron Jensen (Wyoming), 6-4 in sudden victory (watch) in the consolation semifinals before moving on to beat No. 5 seed Jarett Degen (Iowa State), 9-4 for third place.
Finally, freshman Haiden Drury made it three 'Dogs among the place winners taking sixth at 133 pounds falling in a pair of matches on Sunday. Drury lost to No. 5 seed Mosha Schwartz (Northern Colorado), 14-4 in the consolation semifinals before falling to No. 3 seed Zach Price (South Dakota State), 8-1 in the fifth place match.
Fresno State scored 31 team points to finish 12th as they were only 1.5 points shy of Air Force. Oklahoma State and Oklahoma tied for the team title with 124 points apiece.
The 'Dogs will now await word for wild card bids to be announced on Tuesday before the brackets for the 2021 NCAA Championships will be released on Wednesday at 3 p.m. PT on NCAA.com.
