FRESNO, Calif. - Phil Steele's 2021 College Football Preview magazine announced its preseason All-Mountain West teams, and Fresno State saw 11 Bulldogs recognized as all-conference talent by the college football wizard. Fresno State earned six offensive, four defensive, and a specialist selection this season.
Â
The Bulldogs' 11 picks entering the 2021 season are the most preseason picks by the magazine since the preseason selections in 2018 when the 'Dogs had 16.
Â
Leading the way as first team selections were seniors Ronnie Rivers (RB), Kevin Atkins (DT), and Jacob Westberry (LS). Junior Jalen Cropper was a first team selection at wide receiver.
Â
No Bulldogs were represented on the second team, but there were a plethora of selections on the third team. Quarterback Jake Haener, wide receiver Keric Wheatfall and offensive lineman Dontae Bull were the third team offensive picks. The defensive end duo of Kwami Jones and David Perales, along with FIU transfer linebacker Tyson Maeva were defensive selections on the third team.
Â
Washington transfer receiver Ty Jones was Fresno State's lone fourth team pick.
Â
Seven of the 11 selections were All-Mountain West selections following the 2020 season. Two are entering their first season in action with Fresno State.
