Westberry named to Patrick Mannelly Award watch list

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior long snapper Jacob Westberry has been named to the 2021 Patrick Mannelly Award watch list, as announced by the organization on Monday.

Westberry was one of just 31 long snappers on the watch list for the award presented to the best senior long snapper in the FBS. The veteran Bulldog from Bradenton, Fla. enters his sixth season of collegiate football for the 'Dogs after utilizing the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The senior Bulldog is one of three representatives from the Mountain West on this season's watch list.

Westberry returns for the 2021 season having played the third-most games in a career by any player on the current Bulldog roster. Westberry has played 44 career games as the Bulldogs' long snapper, serving as the primary 'Dog in that role after taking his redshirt season in 2016.

The award, created in 2019, benefits Bernie's Book Bank, a non-profit organization located in Lake Bluff, Illinois. While last year's ceremony was remote, the organization is hoping for a live presentation of the award in Lake Bluff on December 11, 2021.

Ten semi-finalists will be announced on November 15, 2021. Those names will be narrowed to three finalists selected on November 29, 2021 and the winner announced at the award ceremony in December.
