THE BONES
- Fresno State Athletics is celebrating its centennial year and the 2021 football season will be the 100th season of competition in program history.
- The Fresno State football team showed what it can bring to the table last Saturday afternoon, pushing No. 11 Oregon to its limit on its home field at Autzen Stadium. The Bulldogs fell 31-24 in front of 43,276 fans in attendance at the season opener in Eugene.
- Fresno State has had 14 first-year Bulldogs see game action in two games this season - nine transfers and five true freshmen.
- Three first-year Bulldogs have earned starts - Ty Jones (WR), Tyson Maeva (LB) and Elijah Gates (DB).
- Fresno State sophomore kicker Abraham Montano saw his first game action as a Bulldog at No. 11 Oregon on Saturday, stepping in for Cesar Silva on the kicking duties against the Ducks. Montano was 3-of-3 in his field goal attempts at Autzen Stadium.
- Fresno State has five true freshman listed on its two-deep entering game three.
- QB Jake Haener has completed 50-of-69 attempts for 629 yards through two games this season. Fresno State ranks No. 1 in the Mountain West in total offensive yards, powered by Haener's passing yards and an additional 246 in the run game.
- Fresno State sits No. 2 in the Mountain West in total defense. The Bulldogs are allowing just 3.47 yards per play in their two games this season.
- The 'Dogs have gotten to the opposing quarterback seven times this season, with three coming last time out against the No. 11 Oregon Ducks.
- Fresno State's pass defense leads the conference early, limiting its opponents to an average of just 122 yards per game thru the air. The Bulldogs have kept opposing quarterbacks to completing 29-of-54 attempts at a 53.7 completion percentage. Rivers has the nation's third-most career all-purpose yards (4, 194 yards) among active players.
- With 59 all-purpose yards at Oregon last weekend, the senior back officially moved into sixth in Fresno State history for career all-purpose yards. He is 194 yards from passing his father, Ron Rivers (1991-93), and breaking into the top five.
- Last time out, Haener threw for 298 yards - just two yards straight of his fifth-consecutive 300- yard passing performance.
