Four 'Dogs win at Sunbird Invitaional

FRESNO, Calif. – In the first outdoor competition of the year, Fresno State's men's and women's track and field teams combined for 11 top-three results on Saturday at the Sunbird Invitational at Fresno Pacific. Four of those 11 were event wins for the Bulldogs.
The throws group racked up six top-three results with four coming from the men and two from the women. The men's javelin saw Julian Sotelo pick up the win with a throw of 55.56m/182-3 while Isaiah Calvin was third at 51.44m/168-9. The 'Dogs went 2-3 in the men's hammer with Cameron Haynes landing a toss of 51.49m/168-11. Charles Remlinger finished right behind him at 51.18m/167-11. The women went 1-2 in the discus with Emma Harper leading the way with a mark of 46.06m/151-1 ahead Morgan Johnson's toss of 44.46m/145-10.
On the track, the men's team totaled four top-three finishes. Two of those came from Joey Turner. The junior picked up the win in the 200 meters with a time of 22.41 while also taking third in the 100 meters with an 11.08. Dane Koesterer picked up the win in the 400 hurdles by clocking a time of 56.68 while Garrett Ostrinski placed second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.25.
Daveion Robinson grabbed a second-place result for the women in the 400 meters (59.25).
UP NEXT
Following the Mountain West indoor championships next weekend, the Bulldogs will be back outdoors at the Kim Duyst Invitational on March 5.
