Headed up the 99 for Hornet Invite

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State track and field teams return to action this weekend, heading up to Sacramento for the Hornet Invitational. The Bulldogs have been off since March 5 but have meets slated for each of the next three weekends.
The three-week, three-meet stretch will conclude on April 1 at home with West Coast Relays.
The Hornet Invitational begins at 9 a.m. PT on Saturday with the women's hammer and women's javelin.

ONE APPEARANCE, ONE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Following her first appearance for the Bulldogs, Modesto JC transfer Rhiannon Genilla earned her first Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honor. At the time of her personal best mark of 48.20m/158-2 at the Kim Duyst Invitational, she ranked No. 1 in the NCAA.
With its three top hammer throwers returning this season in Hannah Chappell, Amelia DiPaola and Tahj'nee Thurston, Fresno State's group got even stronger this year with the addition of Florida State transfer Nadia Maffo.
Fresno State heads to the Central Coast next weekend for the Cal Poly Invitational on March 26.

- It was the Bulldogs' second Athlete of the Week honor in the last two seasons. Prior to 2021, Fresno State had not had one since 2016.
