'Dogs tripped up by Dirtbags

FRESNO, Calif. - The Diamond 'Dogs fell 19-7 on Tuesday evening to Long Beach State at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
Fresno State (9-12) was unable to overcome a pair of big innings by Long Beach State (11-8) who took a 14-0 lead after two innings and never looked back.
The Bulldogs totaled 14 hits on the night with a season-high three hits coming from Travis Welker and Blake Wink and Tyler Davis also notched two base hits each.
On the mound, seven 'Dogs saw action highlighted by two shutout innings from Alex Kendrick who struck out a season-high four.
How It Happened
The Dirtbags jumped right on Bulldog starter Nikoh Mitchell in the first inning bringing across eight runs, including a three-run home run from Chase Luttrell.
The scoring continued for LBSU in the second with six more runs coming in to extend their lead to 14-0.
The 'Dogs broke through with a pair of runs on a two-run RBI double by Vinny Bologna to center in the third, but four more runs came across for the Dirtbags in the fifth to move their lead to 18-2.
An RBI single by Wink in the fifth & a sacrifice fly by Andrew Kachel in the sixth got the 'Dogs two more runs and the scoring was rounded out for the Bulldogs with three more runs in the bottom of the ninth.

The 'Dogs head out on the road traveling to San Diego State (5-15, 0-6 MW) this weekend.
