SAN DIEGO - The Diamond 'Dogs completed a sweep over San Diego State on Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 win against the Aztecs at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
Fresno State (12-12, 6-3 MW) got its third straight stellar starting pitching performance of the weekend with Roman Angelo matching his season best tossing six innings. He limited SDSU to three hits, no runs and struck out a season-high five.
Offensively, the Bulldogs were limited to three hits with Vinny Bologna notching a single, double, RBI and scored a run while Mason Grotto drove in a pair of runs.
Trevor Garcia took over on the mound for Angelo going 2.1 innings with Robbie Peters and Cooper Bergman finishing out the game recording one out apiece.
How It Happened
As they did all weekend, the 'Dogs struck first coming up with a three-run fourth inning.
After being retired in order the first time through the lineup by Aztec starting pitcher TJ Fondtain, the 'Dogs were able to capitalize the second time through the lineup. Coming through with a pair of key two-out hits, Bologna smacked an RBI double and after a walk to Andrew Kachel, a clutch two-run RBI single by Grotto to left field put the 'Dogs up 3-0.
Looking to add to the lead in the sixth, the Bulldogs loaded the bases on an Aztec error and a pair of walks when pinch-hitter Ben Newton came to the plate and forced another walk to bring home Zach Morgan for a 4-0 lead.
The Aztecs looked to break through on the scoreboard in the ninth inning with a pair of singles, but Bergman was able to get Irvin Weems to bounce out to third to seal the win.

The 'Dogs return home to host Air Force (8-14, 2-6 MW) next weekend.
