King opens season with win at Sunbird Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State track and field teams opened the outdoor season on Saturday across town at the Sunbird Invitational hosted by Fresno Pacific. The Bulldogs finished with eight Top-3 results. Five of those came from the men.
Jabari King earned Fresno State's lone win of the day in the long jump. The sophomore finished with a top mark of 7.19m/23-7.25. While there was a three-way tie at the top, his next best jump was enough for the win. Teammate Finton Keegan placed third.
Bronson Ortlieb grabbed a runner-up finish in the 200 meters at 21.32. He also helped the 4x100 relay team to a second-place result, finishing in 41.45.
Joining Keegan with a three-place finish was Jose Zarco-Sanchez in the shot put. The junior's top mark registered 15.12m/49-7.25.
The women's team got a pair of third-place results from Khushleen Khakh in the 800 meters, running a time of 2:15.53, and Kyndall Hannible in the long jump after recording a top mark of 5.33m/17-6.
