'Dogs wrap up at Spokane Sports Showcase

SPOKANE, Wash. - Fresno State concluded competition at the Spokane Sports Showcase on Friday, competing against athletes from Cal, USC, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Sacramento State, Gonzaga, Eastern Washington and Idaho, among others.
The Bulldogs saw three personal bests on Friday from Breelyn Newsome (60m hurdles), Trinity Bailey (300m) and Nayla Martin (1000m).
Action began with Maria Lawson taking third in the weight throw behind a pair of athletes from Cal with a mark of 17.79m/58-0.45.
The Bulldogs were consistent across the board in the 1000m run, placing five in the Top 7. Martin led the way with a second place finish and time of 2:55.37. Chiara Pedol took third, Hannah Pacheco took fourth, Leah Mendibles sixth and Khushleen Khakh took seventh in the event.
The 'Dogs were also steady in the mile, taking third, fifth and 10th in the event. Rhiannon Walker was the third place finisher with a time of 5:06.94. Kylie Ward was fifth with a time of 5:17.06 and Hannah Garrity tenth with a time of 5:21.63.
