How It Happened
Fresno State (10-21-1, 1-9-1 MW) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning behind RBI efforts from Griffen Sotomayor and Mikey Boyd. Air Force responded with four runs in the second to take its first lead of the game.
The Bulldogs chipped away, tying the game at 4-4 in the fourth on Jett Ruby's RBI single before reclaiming the lead in the fifth on back-to-back solo home runs from Marcus Nolen and Boyd.
Fresno State appeared to take control in the sixth inning, erupting for five runs to build an 11-5 advantage. Owen Faust delivered a two-run double, while Sotomayor and Nolen each drove in runs during the rally.
After holding Air Force scoreless in the seventh, the Bulldogs entered the eighth inning with a comfortable six-run lead. However, the Falcons mounted a massive rally, scoring 10 runs on nine hits, highlighted by a go-ahead grand slam from Cole Jenkins that flipped the game to a 15-11 Air Force lead.
Fresno State attempted a comeback in the ninth, scoring twice on a Brady Hewitt single, but could not complete the rally.
