FRESNO, Calif. – A six-run sixth inning proved to be the difference on Monday afternoon as Fresno State fell to UC Davis, 8-4, at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs (11-25-1) held the Aggies scoreless through five innings before UC Davis broke the game open in the sixth, sending 10 batters to the plate and plating six runs, highlighted by a grand slam from Jaxon Murphy.
Fresno State responded in the bottom half of the inning, capitalizing on a UC Davis error to score a pair of runs. The Bulldogs added two more in the seventh on a two-run home run from Griffen Sotomayor, cutting the deficit to 7-4.
However, that would be as close as Fresno State would get. UC Davis added an insurance run in the ninth, while the Bulldog offense was held scoreless over the final two innings.
