'Dogs rally past Rebels for Senior Day win

The Bulldogs erased an early deficit with an eight-run fifth inning and held off a late UNLV rally to secure the series finale. Fresno State improved to 14-34-1 overall and 3-17-1 in Mountain West play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UNLV jumped ahead early, scoring one run in the first and three in the fourth before adding two more in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead. Fresno State answered in a big way in the bottom half of the fifth, sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring eight runs on seven hits.
Sky Collins opened the scoring in the inning with an RBI single before Brady Hewitt drove in two runs with a base hit up the middle. Owen Faust followed with a two-run single, and Marcus Nolen capped the frame with a three-run homer to left field to give the Bulldogs a 9-6 lead.
Fresno State added back-to-back home runs from Michael Boyd and Faust in the seventh to extend the lead to 11-6. UNLV responded with five runs in the eighth to tie the game, but the Bulldogs answered immediately.
Faust delivered again in the bottom of the eighth, launching a two-run homer to left field to put Fresno State back in front. Austin Young added an RBI single later in the inning to make it 14-11.
The Rebels scored twice in the ninth, but Douglas Crystal entered with two outs and recorded the final out to earn his third save of the season.
Faust led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, five RBIs and three runs scored. Nolen went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, while Young finished 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Hewitt added two RBIs and Collins drove in two runs.
Drew Townson earned the win on the mound, improving to 1-7, while Crystal picked up the save. Tate Foxson took the loss for UNLV.
