Women's Basketball Wins Exhibition Finale 69-68

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State Bulldogs came from behind in the final minutes to beat the National Women?s Basketball League 69-68 in its final exhibition game at the North Gym.
In the first half, Tracy Adams paced the NWBL with 12 points, including two three-pointers. The Bulldogs were led at half by forward Amanda Baker (Jr., Porterville, Calif.), who had nine points on four of six shooting.
In the second half, the NWBL go off to a quick start and led by as many as 12 points. However, Fresno State fought back, going on a 9-0 run and cutting the deficit to three. The Bulldogs took the lead 58-56 with 6:08 remaining on a layup by forward Tiffany Lewis (Sr., Inglewood, Calif.).
In the final minute, the NWBL led by one before Lewis took control. She grabbed a tough rebound and then hit a jumper in traffic with 22 seconds on the clock to clinch the victory.
"It feels nice anytime we get a win," Fresno State head coach Britt King said. "Our defense was very good down the stretch. This is a good victory to take into the regular season."
Adams led all scorers with 23 points on seven of 18 shooting. Lewis was the top Bulldog with 20 points and 10 boards.
Fresno State opens its season against Georgetown at the Regal Classic, hosted by the University of Minnesota, Nov. 20-21. The Bulldogs' home opener takes place when they host the Fresno State Classic on Nov. 26-28.
