Wrestling Falls to Two of Nation's Best

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 24 Fresno State dropped to 6-4 with losses to No. 2 Oklahoma State and No. 3 Oklahoma on Sunday.
The Bulldogs wrestled Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., at Yukon High School in the first of two meets. Fresno State got only two victories in the meet.
No.1 Stephen Abas earned his 85th consecutive win by holding off No. 2 Matt Ridings for a 6-5 decision in the 125 division.
Fresno State's second win came from freshman Marcio Botelho in the 197 division. Botelho beat Oklahoma's Tom Grossman 5-3, handing Grossman just his fifth loss of the season.
The 'Dogs wrestled Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla., where they lost a devastating 40-0 meet.
Junior Ben Baca put up a fight in the 157 division against No. 4 Shane Roller. Baca and Roller were tied 6-6 at the end of three periods, but Roller had 1 minute and 6 seconds of riding time and got the 7-6 victory.
Sophomore Jim Medeiros (149) also raised excitement for the 'Dogs when he threw No. 10 Jerrod Sanders nearly off the mat. Sanders won the match 5-3 in overtime.
Abas forfeited in the 125 division. The reason is unclear.
Fresno State will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the National Duals on Friday and Saturday.
