FRESNO STATE
Head Coach Pat Hill
"It was a good game. The game plan was to keep the ball away from Hawaii's offense, and our guys did a good job of that. I thought the players really executed the plan well. They knew they had to run the football, and they went out and ran the football."
"We wanted to play physical tonight, because we know Hawaii is always a physical team. We wanted to go out and show we could play physical with them. I was really proud of the way our kids played in all phases. You just couldn't ask for a better executed plan."
"As a coach, you've got to really be proud of your staff for the plan they put together, and the players took it to the field. It was a job well done in all phases tonight."
"I knew for us, to win the game, we'd have to control the ball and run the football, and be physical."
"I didn't even know was the school record was. I heard we broke it. We weren't trying to break it. I'm not into school records. I'm into just winning games, and that was a win. And it was a big win. It was a win we needed to have. Hawaii is a team that had put it on us three years in a row. Hawaii is a good football program, and I didn't have any idea it would end up like this."
HAWAII
Head Coach June Jones
On Hawaii's rush defense
"Well, we are having trouble, that's for sure. They are a very good run football team, and they are very physical, and Pat did a very nice job of getting them to do what they do. They certainly have proven they can do it, pretty much against anybody. They didn't have any trouble tonight. They are a very good football team running the ball."
On what went wrong with the run defense
"We've got to do a better job in every which way. Playing, coaching. The whole deal."
"I knew that was exactly what they were going to do. They did a nice job. We kind of knew exactly where they were going to run it. But they just physically kicked our butts."
On the team's road struggles
"We tried everything. We can't make any plays on the road offensively to get everybody turned around. And for whatever reason, this year it's been very difficult. We haven't played well on the road offensively."
Jones' thoughts on the Boise State and Fresno State lopsided losses
"Two of the biggest [butt]-kickings I've ever had."
QB Timmy Chang
If the lopsided losses are tough because he's a senior
"Yeah, it does [make it tough]. Any time you lose a game, it's painful. And the way we lost it is even more painful. Being a senior, it's even more painful. It's not something you plan, it's not something you want to happen. We just needed a little bit more tonight. Fresno was a good team tonight. They were the better team."
Why UH can't build momentum on the road
"I can't answer that. We play really tough at home, and we've come on the road these last two times and didn't play tough at all...We just didn't show up."
On Fresno State's defense
"They play tough. I can't count how many times they had tipped balls on key third downs. And when you go three-and-out and they don't punt the first half...they are going in and scoring touchdowns. I think we had three, or maybe four, tipped balls on third downs that killed our drives. And then they go down and punch it right in there. They played hard, they played really hard. My hats off to them. It was pretty much what we thought they were going to do. We just needed to execute a little better and help our defense out."
