Kevin Goessling Named GoBulldogs.com/Toyota Athlete of the Week

Kevin Goessling has been named the gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for the week of October 27. Goessling, who was also named the WAC Special Teams Player of the Week connected on a school record 58-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Bulldogs to a 30-28 road win over Utah State. It is the first time Goessling has received this honor. Goessling, a freshman from Placentia, Calif. (Servite HS), made three field goals, all of at least 43 yards, in the fourth quarter, including the 58-yarder. The 58-yard field goal was the second longest in the nation this year and the longest to win a game. He also made all three extra point tries to finish with 12 points on the day. Goessling's other two field goals were 43 and 44-yarders. Goessling has taken over the WAC leader in field goals, averaging 1.71 per game, good for 10th in the NCAA. He has made 12 this season, two more than Louisiana Tech's Brad Oestriecher. His 58-yard fi eld goal to win the Utah State game was a Bulldog record and ranks as the second- longest in the NCAA this season. Other nominees: 2008-09 Athletes of the Week:
