Sunday's game was played at 10 a.m. eastern time after Saturday's game was postponed due to the heavy snow fall that hit the East on Saturday. The Governor of West Virginia declared the state in a state of emergency on Saturday after the heavy snowfall. Newspapers reported that the Morgantown area received six to eight inches of snow on Saturday.
"We just tried to keep a normal schedule," Wiggins said on the early game. "You can't avoid the fact that it was an early game but you can't make any excuses about it. We felt like we got plenty of rest and nourishment. It was a great opportunity to play. It wasn't a huge disadvantage. We just didn't play as well as them today."
Fresno State trailed 37-28 with 18:52 to play in the game. West Virginia then went on a 17-5 run over a seven minute period to lead 54-33 with 11:51 remaining in the contest. WVU led by as many as 25 points at 68-43 with 3:51 left in the game.
The Bulldogs only lead of the game was when they scored the opening basket to take a 2-0 lead at the 18:56 mark. WVU then led 10-2 seven minutes into the game and the lead was extended to 21-6 with 7:34 to play in the half.
Fresno State scored the next seven points to come within eight at 21-13 a little over a minute later. The Dogs continued to battle and trailed 34-25 at halftime.
