'Dogs host Rebels and Wolf Pack, to kickoff four-game homestand

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team returns home to host UNLV on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. PT and Nevada on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 12 p.m. PT, after four consecutive road games. Both games will be held in the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.
Friday's game will feature a postgame autograph session with the entire team, 200 autograph cards will be available for fans at a first come, first served basis. The match will also feature a Chevron t-shirt toss at halftime, along with a Fresno State Ultimate Frisbee Club scrimmage. Sunday's game will serve as the team's annual Kick for the Cure game, standing up against breast cancer. At halftime, local breast cancer survivors will be honored.

SCOUTING THE REBELS
UNLV is 12-3 (4-2 MW) this season, 4-2 on the road.
The Rebels are on a two-game winning streak. UNLV has owned the advantage over their opponents in goals (31-13), shots (273-167) and corner kicks (104-44). The Rebels opponent have logged more saves on the season 89-60. UNLV leads the MW in shots (273), points (90), goals (19), goals per game (2.07), assists (28) and assists per game (28.) Nationally, UNLV is No. 22 in goals, No. 27 in assists and No. 25 in points.Â
Midfielder Sophie Cortes leads the Rebels with eight goals, seven assists, 23 points and 51 shots. Cortes leads the MW in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, assists, assists per game, shots and shots per game. Nationally, she ranks No. 20 in points, No. 39 in goals and No. 42 in assists.
The Rebels' explosive offense has five players with three or more goals this season and seven players with two or more assists.
Reviewing last week – UNLV had a 2-0 week, with wins over Colorado State and Wyoming.
The Rebels defeated the Rams 3-1 on Oct. 6 at home. UNLV took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 13th minute. After the Rams tied the score at one in the 68th minute, the Rebels used goals six minutes apart in the 77th and 83rd minutes to pull away for the win.
The Rebels took a 2-0 lead when Michaela Morris and Cailtyn Kreutz scored goals six minutes apart in the 22nd and 28th minutes, respectively, giving the Rebels a cushion. In the second half, the Cowgirls cut the lead to 2-1 in the 59th minute but it wasn't enough to overcome the Rebels lead.
Last time – UNLV defeated Fresno State 4-1 on Sept. 25, 2016. The last time the two teams met in Fresno, the Rebels outlasted the 'Dogs 2-1 on Oct. 25, 2015. Fresno State's last win over UNLV was on Oct. 3, 2014 when the 'Dogs shutout the Rebels 1-0. UNLV leads the all-time record between the two teams 5-3-2.
Last season – UNLV was the 2016 MW Regular Season Champions and the 2016 MW Tournament Champions. The Rebels finished the season with a 16-4-3 (8-1-2 MW) record. After winning the MW Tournament, the Rebels made their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the first since 2006 -- the same year they last won the MW Tournament.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
Nevada is 1-13 (0-6 MW) this season, 0-6 on the road.
The Wolf Pack is on a 12-game losing streak. Nevada's opponents this season have owned the advantage in goals (32-7), shots (257-121) and corners (66-35). The Wolf Pack has logged more saves than their opponents 94-58. Nevada leads the MW in saves this season. The Wolf Pack ranks 12th in the conference in shots, points, goals, goals per game, assists and assists per game.
This season, five players have scored goals, three have assists and eight have recorded points.
Forward Rachel Gensch leads Nevada this season with three goals, six points and 22 shots. Goalkeeper Lauryn Horstdaniel leads the MW in saves with 83 and saves per game with 5.93.
Last time --Â Fresno State fell to Nevada 1-0 on Sept. 23, 2016. The last time the two squads met in Fresno, the 'Dogs came away with the win 1-0 on Oct. 24, 2015. Fresno State leads the all-time series between the two teams 15-2-3.
Last season -- Nevada finished the 2016 season with a 5-13 (2-9 MW) record. The Wolf Pack did not make the 2016 MW Tournament.
QUICK LOOK AT THE 'DOGS
Fresno State is 6-5-3 (1-3-2 MW) this season, 3-3 at home.
This season, the 'Dogs have outscored their opponents 19-13, recorded more shots (147-139) and have logged more saves (56-43). Their opponents this season have taken more corner kicks (64-59) than the 'Dogs.
Fresno State has a well-balanced offense, nine 'Dogs have scored goals, 12 have recorded assists, 14 have notched points and 19 with shots.
Sophomore Julia Glaser leads Fresno State's offense with seven goals, one assist, 15 points and 35 shots. Senior Myra Delgadillo has made a big impact this season with three goals, six assists, 12 points and 24 shots. Junior goalkeeper Nicole Theroux has owned the goal box for Fresno State this season, she has notched 52 saves and recorded 1232:04 minutes.
Reviewing last week – Fresno State had 0-1-1 week, falling to New Mexico and taking a draw against SDSU.
The 'Dogs fell to the Lobos on the road 1-0 on Oct. 6. A tough defensive effort by the Lobos limited the Bulldogs to four shots in the contest, one on goal. Clare Lynch scored her fifth game-winning goal of the season for New Mexico in the 52nd minute, giving the Lobos the win. New Mexico's defense didn't allow Fresno State to take a shot during the last 17 minutes of the match, securing the win for the Lobos.
Fresno State's defense also had an outstanding game, limiting New Mexico to single-digit shots for only the second time this season and tying its lowest number of shots on goal (two). The Lobos remain undefeated at home this season (5-0). Overall, New Mexico owned the advantage in shots (7-4) and corners (4-5). Both teams recorded one save.
Fresno State and SDSU's double-overtime match ended in a 1-1 draw on Oct. 8. In the 64th minute, Mia Root scored from 15 yards out off an assist from Aliyah Utush. The Aztecs took a 1-0 lead with 26 minutes left in the game. The 'Dogs evened up the score when Kerrache took a shot in the 74th minute, the SDSU goalkeeper saved the shot but Kerrache was there to head it back in for the goal. Kerrache's resilience in the box tied the game 1-1 with 16 minutes left in regulation. After 110 minutes, the game ended in a double overtime draw. Overall, SDSU recorded more shots (12-9) and corner kicks (7-5). Fresno State recorded more saves (4-3).Â
In the record books – Two 'Dogs have left their mark in the program's record book this season. Delgadillo has moved up to No. 6 on the assists career leaders list (16), No. 8 on the goals career leaders list (18) and No. 7 on the points career leaders list (52). Theroux became No. 7 on the saves career leaders list with 98 career saves.
In terms of the Mountain West – Fresno State is currently tied for eighth place in the conference standings.
Fresno State ranks second in the MW in points (58), goals (15), assists (20) and assists per game (1.43). The 'Dogs rank within the top five in goals (19), goals per game (19) and corner kicks (59).
Glaser ranks second in the MW in goals (7), goals and goals per game (0.50). She is third in the MW in game-winning goals (4). Glaser ranks in fifth in points per game (1.07) and sixth in points (15). Delgadillo is second in the MW in assists (6) and assists per game (0.46). She also ranks within the top 10 in points (12) and points per game (0.92). Theroux ranks third in the MW in save percentage (.825), third in goals against average (0.80), seventh in saves (52) and ninth in saves per game (3.71).
Nationally speaking – Delgadillo ranks No. 37 in total assists and No. 45 in assists per game.Â
