Gildea shines with career-best 3-under-par to open Bandon Dunes Championship

Bandon, Ore. – Greg Gildea of the Fresno State men's golf team is tied for sixth place individually among a 90-person field at the Bandon Dunes Championship after the first round of play on Sunday. His 3-under-par 69 is a career-best round vs. par.
Gildea's day started on the sixth tee box, and after being 1-over after six holes, the junior went 4-under over the next 12.Â
Earlier this season, Gildea fired a 2-under-par 69 at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational on Oct. 10.

Versus a field that has five top 25 teams, Gildea and the rest of the 'Dogs are tied for 10th place as a team against the 16-team Bandon Dunes Championship field. Fresno State carded a 3-over-par 291 as a group.

The next best Bulldog score was Trevor Clayton's 1-over-par 73. He is tied for 37th.

Trailing Clayton by one shot was Alex Lee, who is tied for 47th with a 2-over-par 74.

Justin Avery shot a 3-over-par 74 and is tied for 55th while Cody Neal carded a 5-over-par 77 and is tied for 72nd.
