Second round 70 by Clayton paces Bulldogs at Bandon Dunes

Bandon, Ore. – The second day of the Bandon Dunes Championship saw Trevor Clayton lead the Fresno State men's golf team with a 2-under-par 70 on Monday. Clayton's round helped the 'Dogs climb to ninth place on the team leaderboard and into a tie for 15th individually.

The Bandon Dunes Championship, hosted by Gonzaga, has a 16-team field with 90 individuals in action.

Clayton, who began his round from the 10th tee box, made his charge between the 18th hole and the sixth hole with four birdies and three pars in that seven-hole span. The senior is 1-under-par for the tournament with a 36-hole 143.

Greg Gildea's career-best 3-under-par opening round was followed by a day-two 5-over-par 77, which dropped him into a tie for 24th – at 2-over-par 146. The second round 77 came via a front-nine 31 and a back-nine 46. Gildea tallied one of two eagles registered by the tournament field on Monday at the 555-yard par-5 No. 6.

Alex Lee trails Gildea by three shots while Justin Avery sits four shots back from the 'Dogs No. 2 36-hole scorer. Lee is tied for 44th (74-75=149) and Avery is tied for 53rd (75-75=150).

Cody Neal is tied for 86th with a two-day total of 159 (77-82).
