Avery fires second round 69 at The Goodwin

STANFORD, Calif. – With a 1-under-par 69, junior Justin Avery fired one of nine rounds in the 60's by the 126-person field during the second round of the Goodwin on Friday, hosted by Stanford at Stanford Golf Course. Avery is tied for 19th overall with a 4-over-par 144 following his opening round 75.

As a team, the 'Dogs currently stand 22nd among the 24 teams at Stanford's event with 18 holes remaining.

Outside of Avery's stellar second round, sophomore Alex Lee fired a 6-over-par 76 and remained in a tie for 89th after landing there following an opening round 7-over-par 77.

Senior Trevor Clayton dropped into a tie for 74th with a second round 7-over-par 77. He opened with 4-over-par 74.

Junior Greg Gildea is tied for 110th while senior Cody Neal is tied for 120th after two rounds. Gildea is 17-over-par (74-83=157) and Neal is 20-over-par (81-79=160).

Neal will start Fresno State's final round at 8:36 a.m., while Avery will be last off the tee for the Bulldogs at 9:20 a.m. A group of 12 teams, including the 'Dogs will get the third round underway in the morning while the next 12 teams will finish the tournament in the afternoon.
