- The Bulldogs are 8-0 in conference play when leading after three quarters, and 1-4 when trailing. The 'Dogs one win when trailing at was at San Diego State, recovering from a four-point deficit to win by six.
- Two indicators for success this season, in which the Bulldogs have not lost, are outrebounding opponents (7-0) and Fresno State's starters outscoring their counterparts (11-0).
Fresno State vs. San Jose State                                                                  Â
- Fresno State leads the all-time series 56-21.
- The Bulldogs are 5-5 in the last 10 games against the Spartans. Four of those losses have come away from home.
- Until a two-point loss on Feb. 3, 2016, the 'Dogs had not dropped a game at home to San Jose State in 14 years, a stretch that consisted of 12 straight wins.
- Fresno State used a 29-10 third quarter in last year's matchup at the Save Mart Center to defeat the Spartans 88-74.
A look at San Jose State                                                                              Â
- San Jose State is 6-17 on the season with a 3-9 mark in conference play.
- The Spartans have dropped their last six games row, with four of those losses coming by more than 25 points.
- Taylor Turney and Myzhanique Ladd lead SJSU in scoring at 13.5 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.
- While averaging the third-most points per game in the conference at 69.3, the Spartans are allowing a league-worst 83.4 per game, a difference of -14.2 points.
Abundance of youth                                            Â
This week will mark the Bulldogs' last two games against some of the youngest teams in the country. In regards to percentage of freshman on its team, Fresno State is the 11th-youngest team in the NCAA (69 percent) while San Jose State is the third-youngest (80 percent). While the Spartans have a higher percentage of freshmen on its roster (53-30.8), the 'Dogs start three freshmen compared to San Jose State which starts just one.Â
- Colorado State, which Fresno State visits on Saturday, is the 18th-youngest. The Bulldogs have already twice faced Air Force (fifth) and Utah State (fourth).
Not your typical freshmen                                                                           Â
With four freshmen who came in ready to compete from the start this season, head coach Jaime White has thrown her newest group into the fire allowing them to learn on the fly. Fresno State's four freshmen Bree Delaney, Genna Ogier, Maddi Utti and Aly Gamez are all averaging over 15 minutes per game while Utti and Gamez pace the group with averages of 30.5 and 28.0 minutes per game, respectively. The group has accounted for 66 of a possible 120 starts.
- Like Utti, Gamez moved into the starting lineup during the nonconference season. Gamez earned her first start at point guard this season at UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 30. The two rank second and third on the team in scoring at 9.7 and 9.1 points per game.
- Collectively, the four freshman have accounted for 42.8 percent of the Bulldogs' scoring.
Balancing act                                                                                               Â
Balance has been a key factor in the Bulldogs' success this season. Fresno State is 8-2 on the year when having at least three players scoring in double figures. On the other side, the 'Dogs are 5-8 when only having two players reach double figures.
- Eight Bulldogs have scored in double figures this season, with five of them recording at least one 20-point game.
- During Fresno State's latest run of winning six of its last seven games, four 'Dogs are averaging between 12.6-10.3 points (Candice White, Kristina Cavey, Aly Gamez and Maddi Utti). During the previous 17 games in which the Bulldogs were 8-9, only one player was in double figures as White was averaging 18.6 points per game.
To play or not to play                                                                                  Â
Playing or resting, which is better? Unusual outside of tournament play, Fresno State played five games in 11 days from Jan. 24-Feb. 3. With the rescheduling of Air Force game for Jan. 29, which was originally slated for Jan. 20, the Bulldogs opened their stretch with three games in six days in three different states (Nevada, Utah, California).
- Following the Wyoming game on Feb. 3, Fresno State has played just one game during the ensuing 10 days prior to facing the Spartans on Feb. 14.
- The Bulldogs went 3-1 during that stretch while playing on two days or less rest, while going 1-0 with three days of rest.
Making them count                                                                                      Â
A 72-percent shooting team from the foul line through the nonconference portion of its schedule, Fresno State has seen that number rise through conference play. Shooting 77.6 percent in conference play, the Bulldogs season average has risen to 74.7 percent, 0.5 percent above the program record which has stood since 1985.
- The 'Dogs rank 48th nationally in free-throw percentage.
- 26.9 percent of the team's free throws have been attempted by Candice White who ranks fourth in the NCAA at 93.9 percent.
- Five Bulldogs, who have at least 15 attempts, are shooting over 70 percent on the year.
Winning close                                                                                              Â
Despite being one of the youngest teams in the country entering the season, Fresno State has gone against the grain when in tight games. The Bulldogs are 7-3 in games decided by 10 points or less, and are 4-0 in games decided by three or less as its youthful core has not wavered in crunch time.
- In each of their four wins that have been by three points or less (Montana, Weber State, Utah State, UNLV), the Bulldogs have trailed midway through the fourth quarter and games have been tied with under four minutes to play.
- In conference play, the 'Dogs have twice taken a lead in the final 10 seconds to win games. Candice White knocked down a pair of free throws versus Utah State with nine seconds to play to secure the win on Jan. 3. At UNLV, Aly Gamez hit a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer on Jan. 24.
Holding the perimeter                                                                                  Â
Fresno State is one the most frustrating teams this season for 3-point shooters as the Bulldogs rank No. 7 nationally in the in 3-point percentage defense at 26.2 percent (120-of-458). The 'Dogs have held seven opponents to three or less 3's in a single game and seven opponents to 3-point percentages below 20. Fresno State is 13-4 this season when holding its opponents to below 30 percent from 3.
- Leading the league in conference games in 3-point percentage defense at 23.6 percent (60-of-254), the Bulldogs have not allowed a Mountain West opponent to shoot better than 28 percent from 3 in any of their 10 wins. On the contrary, two of their four losses have come when allowing opponents to shoot above 38 percent from 3.
- The Bulldogs held Utah State to 6.7 percent (1-of-15), Air Force to 8.3 percent (1-of-12) and Colorado State to 18.5 percent (5-of-27), the lowest, second-lowest and fifth-lowest percentages for an opponent this season.
- The 4.6 made 3's per game is third in the MW to Wyoming which is allowing 3.8 per game, and Air Force (4.5). The Bulldogs though have seen at least a 100 more 3-point attempts than both Wyoming and Air Force.
