Fresno State defeats Cal Poly 4-3 at ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Fresno State men's tennis team finished the first day of the ASU Invitational with a 4-3 win over Cal Poly.
The Bulldogs improve to 7-2 on the season.
AGAINST CAL POLY
The 'Dogs defeated the Mustangs 4-3 in their first match of the day.
Doubles – The Mustangs took the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Cem Erturk and Zdenek Derkas played at the No. 1 position for the first time this season, they took the win 7-5.
Cagatay Soke and Xander Veys fell at the No. 2 position in a close 7-5 match. The doubles point was clinched at the No. 3 position, when Mantas Bugailiskis and Youssef Hassan fell in a tiebreaker 7-6 (5).
Singles – Fresno State tied the match 1-1 when Erturk defeated his opponent at the No. 6 position 6-2, 6-2.
At the No. 1 position, Bugailiskis fell 6-2, 6-3 and the Mustangs retook the lead.
The match was tied 2-2 when Derkas defeated his opponent at the No. 3 position in straight sets (7-5, 6-1).
Fresno State took its first lead of the match when Soke defeated his opponent at the No. 5 position (7-6, 6-1), to give the 'Dogs a 3-2 lead.
Cal Poly tied the match 3-3 when Veys fell at the No. 2 position 7-5, 6-3.
The match came down to the last court. Moser won the match for the 'Dogs when he defeated his opponent at the No. 4 position 7-6, 7-6 (5).
