Streak:Â Fresno State Won 3
• Fresno State plays two midweek games in the South Bay Area as their final non-conference games of the season.
• The Santa Clara game was a late addition to the schedule as a replacement for a scheduled game between Fresno State and Charlotte that was canceled due to rain earlier this season.
• The Bulldogs are playing five road games over a seven-day stretch, having won 2-of-3 games over the weekend at New Mexico.
Scouting Stanford (20-13, 1-5 Pac-12)
• The Bulldogs will be facing Stanford for the second time this season after a 2-0 win in 8-innings on Feb. 10 in Tempe, Ariz. Danielle East threw a shutout for her first collegiate win, allowing just seven singles and no walks, and Vanessa Hernandez drove in the only runs of the game with a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth.
• Fresno State has won three straight games against the Cardinal and is 18-13 all-time against them. The last time the teams met at Stanford was in the NCAA Regionals in 2011, a game the Cardinal won 3-1.
• Stanford ended the pre-conference portion of its schedule with a 19-8 record but has started 1-5 in Pac-12 play, losing 2-of-3 at Utah before being swept in a three-game home series against No. 1 Washington. In its last four games Stanford has been outscored 40-1.
• Stanford has great speed as it leads the Pac-12 in stolen bases (41) and triples (14). The Cardinal have hit only 10 home runs as a team and are hitting .298 with a 3.51 team ERA.
• Teaghan Cowles is hitting .411 with six triples and 14 stolen bases while Alyssa Horeczko has 13 steals and is hitting .338. Maddy Dywer leads the team in the circle as she is 11-6 with a 1.98 ERA and .217 opposing batting average.
Â
Scouting Santa Clara (5-23, 0-0 WCC)
• Fresno State's highest winning percentage against any school in program history is against Santa Clara as the Bulldogs are 50-2 all-time against the Broncos. Santa Clara did record a 1-0 win in 2014 but the Bulldogs have won three meetings since then, including a 2-0 win at Santa Clara last season.
• Santa Clara hasn't played since March 25 when it concluded play at the Matador Classic in Los Angeles. The Broncos went 1-2 in that tournament and have lost five of their last six games.
• Santa Clara has played just one home game this year, losing to fellow MW school San Jose State, 9-0, in February. The squad started the year 0-11 but has five wins since, including victories over CSUN and Georgia Tech.
• The Broncos rank last in NCAA Div. I with just one home run this season and are second to last among 296 Div. I teams with a .249 slugging percentage.
