'Dogs fall to Aggies 4-3

DAVIS, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team fell to UC Davis in its season opener 4-3, Saturday night. The Bulldogs were scheduled to face Pacific as well, but the match was postponed due to weather.
Fresno State falls to 0-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs and the Aggies had to move to an indoor venue mid-match due to weather. The match would begin with singles play.
SINGLES
Zdenek Derkas took the win for the 'Dogs at No. 1 singles in a three-set battle 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. The Tigers got the win at No. 2 singles when Mantas Bugailiskis fell in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Angus Bradshaw won at No. 3 in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Cagatay Soke lost a three-set match at the No. 4 position 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4). Henrique Osorio pulled out the win at the No. 5 position for 'Dogs in two sets 7-6 (6), 7-5. Cem Erturk dropped a close match at the No. 6 7-6(6), 7-5.
The match was 3-3 after singles play.
DOUBLES
The match came down to doubles. Soke and Erturk got the win at the No. 2 position, 6-2. UC Davis took the win at the No. 1 position 7-5. UC Davis secured the match at the No. 3 position in a tie-breaker 7-6.
