Fresno State to face Pepperdine, LMU

MAILIBU, Calif.– The Fresno State men's tennis team will travel to face Pepperdine on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 12 p.m. PT. The Bulldogs will stay on the road to visit Loyola Marymount on Sunday, Jan. 20 for a 12 p.m. PT match.

QUICK LOOK AT THE 'DOGS
Fresno State is 0-1 this season, coming off a 4-3 loss to UC Davis.

The Bulldogs return six letterwinners from last season. Fresno State has an ITA ranked doubles team in Mantas Bugailiskis and Cem Erturk, ranked the No. 46 team in the nation.

Last season, Fresno State finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 19-12 (6-1 MW). The Bulldogs were undefeated at home with a perfect 11-0 record. Fresno State finished the regular season in second place, earning the No. 2 seed in the 2018 Mountain West Championship. The Bulldogs made a run for the title before falling to No. 1 Utah State in the championship match 4-1.

SCOUTING THE WAVES
The match on Saturday will serve as Pepperdine's 2019 season opener. Pepperdine brings back three key returners in Felipe Galvao, Scotland Garapedian and Matias Sborowitz. Last season, the Waves finished with an overall 7-16 (3-6 Big West) record.

Pepperdine owns the all-time record between the two squads 22-2, but the two programs have not played each other since 2012.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
The match on Sunday will serve as LMU's 2019 season opener. The Lions were picked to finish second in the West Coast Conference this season in the 2019 Coaches' Preseason Poll. Senior Lukas Moenter, who was named to the 2019 All-WCC Preseason Men's Tennis Team, leads LMU this season. Last season, the Lions finished with an impressive overall record of 19-6 (7-2 WCC).

The Bulldogs own the all-time record between the two teams 7-2. The last time the two teams met, LMU defeated Fresno State 4-1 on Feb. 10, 2018.
