'Dogs roll past Waves 6-1

MALIBU, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team defeated Pepperdine for its first win of the 2019 season 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.

"After a solid week of practice our team came out and competed well against a really good program," head coach Luke Shields said. "Our mindset is getting better and we are getting tougher."

DOUBLES
The Bulldogs had Angus Bradshaw and Mantas Bugailiskis at the No.1 position, Cagatay Soke and Cem Erturk at the No. 2 position and Zdenek Derkas and Henrique Osorio at the No. 3 position.

Bradshaw and Bugailiskis took the win at the No. 1 spot 6-3. Fresno State logged the doubles point when Derkas and Osorio defeated their opponents 6-1. The match at the No. 3 position was left unfinished.

Fresno State took a 1-0 lead into singles play.

SINGLES
Fresno State's lineup had Derkas at No. 1, Bradshaw at No. 2, Bugailiskis at No. 3, Osorio at No. 4, Soke at No. 5 and Jeremy Moser at No. 6.

Soke put the 'Dogs up 2-0 when he defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-2. Fresno State logged its third point at the No. 3 position when Bugailiskis won 6-3, 6-0. Moser clinched the match for the 'Dogs with a 6-1, 6-4 win. The Waves got their first point of the match at the No. 2 position when Bradshaw fell 6-1, 7-5. Fresno State finished the match with a win, as Derkas defeated his opponent 6-2, 7-5.
