Fresno State travels to face ETSU, Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Fresno State men's tennis team will travel to the Grand Canyon State for two matches. The Bulldogs will face East Tennessee State University in a neutral site match on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. PT and Arizona on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. PT.

The Bulldogs have one nationally ranked player on their roster in No. 118 Zdenek Derkas. Derkas has a 6-1 record at the No. 1 position this season.
Derkas was named the Mountain West Player of the Week on Jan. 22.
Derkas is the only Bulldog to have wins over ranked opponents this season. He defeated No. 53 Adrian Otezback (Pepperdine) and No. 60 Lukas Moenter (LMU).
This will be the first meeting between Fresno State and East Tennessee State in program history.
The last time Fresno State and Arizona met, the Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs 6-1 on March 4, 2018.

2018 Review – Fresno State finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 19-12 (6-1 MW). The Bulldogs were undefeated at home with a perfect 11-0 record. Fresno State finished the regular season in second place, earning the No. 2 seed in the 2018 Mountain West Championship. The Bulldogs made a run for the title before falling to No. 1 Utah State in the championship match 4-1.

East Tennessee State is 3-2 this season.

ETSU has a nationally ranked doubles team in No. 59 Chris Mikrovas and Juan Lugo.
ETSU is led by Frazier Rengifo who has a 5-0 record this season, playing primarily at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
ETSU finished the 2018 season with a 16-8 (7-0 SoCon) overall record. The Bucs were the 2018 Southern Conference Champions, and earned a bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
