• The Bulldogs are coming off a 9-3 win at CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday evening racing out to a 6-0 lead before a three-run home run by JT Arruda sealed the win.
• Fresno State won one of three games at home last weekend against Mountain West foe San Jose State winning the series opener, 3-1 before losing the second game, 2-1 and were edged in the series finale, 7-5.
• San Diego State narrowly leads the all-time series over Fresno State, 100-99.

A look at the San Diego State Aztecs                       Â
San Diego State enters this weekend with a 14-10 overall record and a 4-3 mark in Mountain West play after winning two of three games last weekend at New Mexico.
The Aztecs, the preseason favorites to win the Mountain West, are 11-7 at home while going 3-3 on the road and are coming off defeating Arizona, 6-4 on Monday and falling to California Baptist, 5-2 on Tuesday. SDSU is hitting .294 as a club to rank third in the MW and are averaging 9.8 hits per game and 6.4 runs per contest.
Sophomore outfielder Matt Rudick leads the Aztecs with a .346 average from the plate and tops the team in hits (36), RBI (20) and total bases (48). Four SDSU regular position players hit over .300 as the Aztecs have a balanced lineup with five players with 25 or more hits.
On the mound, SDSU has a staff ERA of 4.40, third in the MW, while posting a 2.04 strikeout-to-walk ratio (233 K/114 BB) while holding opponents to a .258 average from the plate. Weekend starters Aaron Eden and Justin Goosen-Brown have both thrown over 32.0 innings are a combined 4-0.Â
Relievers Adrian Mardueno and Casey O'Sullivan each have a team-high 12 appearances as each are holding opponents below .200 from the plate.

Ashford & Tatum on hot streaks                 Â
For a second straight season, senior center fielder Zach Ashford has gotten off to a strong start from the plate reaching base in all 18 games this season and is currently on an nine-game hitting streak. On the season, he is hitting .391, second-best in the Mountain West, to go along with a team-high 22 runs scored and ranks second in the MW with a .512 on-base percentage.
Redshirt senior third baseman McCarthy Tatum has had a standout performance at the plate so far this season as he is currently on a 12-game hitting streak leading the team in  hits (28), doubles (7), RBI (25), total bases (43) and slugging percentage (.589).
Jensen has a standout Friday night performance           Â
Junior right-handed pitcher Ryan Jensen is coming off a standout performance last Friday (March 22) matching his career-high with 7.0 innings thrown while limiting San Jose State to three hits, all singles, striking out four and only walking three.
On the season, Jensen has a 3-1 record with a 4.44 ERA and has 25 strikeouts in 26.1 innings thrown.
Ashford named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate
Fresno State Baseball senior outfielder Zach Ashford has been named a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced on March 22.
Thirty NCAA baseball student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate baseball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Bulldogs to play six-game series against Air Force in April
In order to make-up the 'Dogs three-game series at Air Force that was canceled due to weather earlier in March, the 'Dogs and Falcons will play six games in three days in Fresno from April 12-14.

New 'Dogs in actionÂ
Nine Bulldogs, five true freshman, three redshirt freshman and junior college transfer Nik Cardinal, have all made their debuts so far this season for the Bulldogs. True freshman outfielder EJ Andrews, Jr. has received 10 starts, two in left field and eight in right field while classmates Ryan Higgins, Jeff Jamison, Kyle Pruhsmeier and Matt Ottino have also seen action. Ottino received his first career start at CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday.
Redshirt freshman Kevin Larson and Robbie Peters have seen action on the mound and redshirt freshman outfielder Dylan Johnson received his first career start on March 3 in the 'Dogs 6-4 win over UNLV. JUCO transfer right-hander Cardinal saw his first action on the mound against the Vols tossing one inning apiece with three strikeouts and has only allowed one hit.
Bulldogs knock off two ranked opponent for first time since 2015Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
With the Diamond 'Dogs 10-7 win on March 10 in Knoxville over then-No. 25 Tennessee, the Bulldogs knocked off their second ranked opponent of the season after beating then-No. 25 Cal State Fullerton, 5-2 on Feb. 23 at the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament.
It is the first time the Bulldogs have knocked off two nationally-ranked opponents in the same season since 2015 when the 'Dogs beat then-No. 8 USC, 14-7 and then-No. 21 Cal, 7-2 within eight days of each other.
Batesole reaches 800 career win milestone                              Â
Head coach Mike Batesole reached career win number 800 on Feb. 16 in the Bulldogs' 6-3 season-opening win over Utah Valley at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium. Beginning his 17th season at the helm of the Bulldogs this season, Batesole has won 549 games at Fresno State and 256 at CSUN from 1996-2002 for a total of 805 career wins.
In his career, Batesole has won at least 30 games in 19 of his 23 years as a Division I head coach and in 13 of his 16 seasons at Fresno State.
