'Dogs to compete in Golden State Invitational

DAVIS, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team will travel to compete in the Golden State Invitational co-hosted by UC Davis and Sacramento State on March 8-9. The Bulldogs will kick off the weekend against Grand Canyon University on Friday at 10 a.m. PT.

THE FIELD
Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Sacramento State, Hawai'i, UC Davis, New Mexico. St. Mary's and Nevada will participate in the invite this weekend.

Match # 1 – Sacramento State Collegiate Courts
10 am – Grand Canyon vs. Fresno State

10 am - Sacramento State vs. Hawaii

Fresno State is coming off back-to-back wins.
Last week, Fresno State had a 2-0 weekend at the Pacific Mountain Invitational. The Bulldogs defeated Hawaii 4-1 and Pacific 4-0 to win the tournament.
Zdenek Derkas was named the Mountain West Player of the Week on Jan. 22.
Derkas is the only Bulldog to have wins over ranked opponents this season. He defeated No. 32 Mazen Osama (Alabama), No. 53 Adrian Otezback (Pepperdine) and No. 60 Lukas Moenter (LMU).
Derkas leads the Bulldogs with an 8-5 singles record at the No. 1 position. He also teams up with Cem Erturk for a team-best 6-0 doubles record.
This will be the first meeting between Fresno State and GCU in program history.

SCOUTING THE LOPES
GCU is 6-3 this season.
