'Dogs return home to host Utah State, Boise State

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team will return to the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center after a 15-match road stint. The Bulldogs will play host to two Mountain West foes, facing Utah State on Friday, April 12 at 5 p.m. PT and Boise State on Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m. PT.
Admission to all Fresno State men's tennis matches are free of charge.

The Bulldogs have seen 15 different doubles teams in the lineup this season. Derkas and Cem Erturk own a team-best 7-3 record, followed by Angus Bradshaw and Cagatay Soke with a 5-1 record.

Fresno State finished the regular season in second place, earning the No. 2 seed in the 2018 Mountain West Championship. The Bulldogs made a run for the title before falling to No. 1 Utah State in the championship match 4-1.
2019 MW Championship – Fresno State will host the 2019 Mountain West Championship at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center April 25-27. Single session tickets for Thursday, Friday and Saturday are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students. All-session tickets/wristbands are $20 for adults and $10 for children and students. Tickets will begin being sold one hour prior to the start of competition each day.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Utah State (15-8, 3-1 MW) is 3-2 on the road this season. The Aggies are coming off a 1-1 week, positing a 4-1 win over Air Force before suffering their first conference loss of the season 4-2 to New Mexico.
Utah State's singles lineup is led by a trio that has been solid during dual play. Felipe Acosta leads the team with a 17-3 singles record, playing at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. Duro Opacic has racked up 15 wins at the No. 6 position, and Jose Carvajal has chalked 13 wins playing at multiple positions for the Aggies.
The duo of Acosta and Opacic own a team-best 8-6 record in doubles play. The Aggies have struggled in doubles during conference play, they are a mere 3-8 in doubles matches. Utah State has not won a doubles point in a conference match this season.
Utah State is the reigning Mountain West regular season and tournament champion.
Series History: Fresno State owns the all-time series record 11-5, but Utah State has won five of the last six matches between the teams. The last meeting between the two teams was in the championship match of the 2018 MW Championship Tournament, when the Aggies defeated the Bulldogs 4-1.

Boise State has three Broncos that have logged 12 wins during spring. Luka Soskic is 12-1 playing at the top three positions, Wyatt DeMulling owns a 12-2 record playing at various positions and Simon Arca Costas owns a 12-3 record also playing at various positions.
With only two Boise State doubles teams boasting winning records, Soskic and Simon Stenlund lead the way with a 4-3 record. The Broncos are 0-8 in doubles matches in conference play this season.
Series History: Fresno State owns the all-time series 19-12. The Bulldogs have won two of the last three matches between the teams. The last time the two squads met, Fresno State defeated Boise State 4-1 in 2018 in Boise, Idaho.
