Dempsey & Moore earn Mountain West weekly honors

It is the second time in the last three weeks the Diamond 'Dogs have swept the Mountain West weekly awards.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second time this season, Fresno State Baseball has swept the Mountain West weekly honors as senior second baseman Nolan Dempsey and junior pitcher Davis Moore were named the Mountain West Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively by the conference office on Monday.
Helping the 'Dogs to their second perfect 4-0 week in the last three weeks and a second straight Mountain West road series sweep at Nevada over the weekend, Dempsey earns his second player of the week honor this season while Moore earns his first career accolade from the conference.
Dempsey, who also earned College Sports Madness Mountain West Player of the Week honors on Monday, continued his recent tear from the plate with a standout week hitting .643 going 9-for-14. The San Carlos, Calif., native registered a 1.214 slugging percentage on the week with a double, two triples, a home run, six runs scored, nine RBI and 17 total bases.
Registering at least one hit and one run scored in all four games, Dempsey matched his single-game career-high of three hits twice in the week in wins on Friday and Sunday over the Wolf Pack. On Friday, he tallied a pair of singles, a triple, three RBI and a run scored in a 5-3 victory and went a perfect 3-for-3 on Sunday with a double, run scored and a RBI in a 8-2 win.
His week got going on Tuesday in the 'Dogs 8-6 home win over Cal Poly with his first career triple to go along with a career-high five RBI and three runs scored. His three-run home run in the sixth inning was key in helping the Bulldogs fight back from a six-run deficit to score eight unanswered runs.
On the pitching side, Moore was dominant against the Wolf Pack on Saturday night tossing his first career complete game while holding Nevada to three hits and one run.
The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native reached double-digits in strikeouts for the second time this season sending down 10, one shy of his career high of 11. Retiring the final 13 batters he faced, Moore only faced four batters over the minimum in the contest and recorded seven 1-2-3 innings. Moore, who was also named the Fresno State Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday, improved to 7-1 with the win.
This is the fifth time in 12 weeks this season the MW has honored a pair of teammates as New Mexico did it on Feb. 18, UNLV did it in back-to-back weeks on March 25 & April 1 and the Bulldogs did it two weeks ago with Dempsey and pitcher Nikoh Mitchell.
The Diamond 'Dogs play their final midweek game of the season on Tuesday hosting CSU Bakersfield (19-31) at 6:05 p.m.
