1/23/2020 5:16:00 PM | Men's Tennis
FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State's men's tennis team is traveling to Florida this weekend for the annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Bulldogs are set to take on South Florida for their first match on Saturday at 8 a.m. PT.Â
Win or lose Fresno State is set to play a second match on Sunday, with a loss getting them a 7 a.m. PT matchup against the loser of the Florida/Temple, while a win secures an 11 a.m. serve with the winner of that match.Â
HOW TO FOLLOW
Florida will provide a live stream and live results for the matches. Results for the Fresno State's matches will also be provided on GoBulldogs.com.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
USF has gotten off to a hot start this season, dominating their first three matchups by winning 7-0, 6-1, and 7-0 respectively. The momentum comes after a very successful 18-8 record for the 2018-2019 season. The Bulls' top player is sophomore Chase Ferguson. The Australian native is ranked No. 121 and has started the season 3-0, winning all of his matchups so far this season.Â
Last time out: USF's latest match came against in-state rival Florida Atlantic. The Bulls dominated the match, winning 7-0 with their only loss on the day coming from a doubles match.Â
Series History: This is the first time Fresno State has taken on USF.Â
POSSIBLE DAY TWO MATCHUPS
Depending on which teams win their first matchup the Bulldogs can take on either Temple or No. 1 Florida. Temple will open up its 2020 season against the Gators while Florida is currently 4-1, with their only loss coming against reigning national champions No. 2 Texas. All six of the Gators' starters are currently nationally ranked.
