'Dogs drop home opener to Pepperdine

FRESNO, Calif.-- The Fresno State's men's tennis team fell to undefeated Pepperdine, 4-0, in their home opener on Saturday at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.

Doubles
Cagatay Soke paired with Johannes Seeman for the third straight match to compete at the No. 1 spot where'd they fall 6-2, to Pepperdine's pairing of Dejonge and Oetzbach. In the No. 2 spot, Daniel Baturyn paired with Zdenek Derkas, and the No. 3 spot featured Henrique Osorio with Alexey Aleschev. After a loss at the No. 2 spot 6-2, Osorio and Aleschev did not get to finish a match where they were leading 5-1.

Singles
The Bulldogs failed to win a match in singles play, losing three matches before they could claim any wins. The first loss came at the No. 2 spot where Seeman fell to in two straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Next was a loss at the No. 6 spot from Daniel Baturyn, 6-1, 6-2. Pepperdine clinched at the No. 4 position with 6-0, 7-6 loss from Soke.

Fresno State was leading two matches at the No. 1 and No. 5 spots when the Waves ended the match.
