Bulldog Bones
- On Sunday, Fresno State earned earned nine Mountain West postseason honors, its most in a single season. Individually, Maddi Utti was named Player of the Year, Haley Cavinder was Freshman of the Year and Jaime White White was Coach of the Year. Â
- Fresno State enters Monday's quarterfinal contest with Nevada as the No. 1 seed at the Mountain West Championships, its first time ever as the top seed. The Bulldogs have been the No. 4 seed in each of the last two championships.
- The Bulldogs are 13-5 all-time in the Mountain West tournament.
- At 16-2 in the conference, Fresno State secured the Mountain West outright regular season title on Feb. 15. It is just the third outright conference championship in program history.Â
- The regular season championship is the first in the Mountain West for the Bulldogs. They had previously won four during their time in the Western Athletic Conference (2008*, 2009, 2010, 2012).Â
- Fresno State became the first Division I women's basketball team to clinch a conference title this season, doing so on Feb. 12.
- The 23 wins are the third-most during a regular season for a Bulldog team.
- This season marks the 17th time Fresno State has won 20 games in a year. All but four of those have come in the last two decades.
- Fresno State is one of two teams in the country to have three players average over 15 points per game (Fresno State, Oregon)
- Utti is the only player to rank in the top 5 in the MW in scoring, rebounding and steals. Haley is the only player to rank in the top 10 in MW scoring, rebounding and assists. Hanna is the only the player in the MW to rank in the top 10 in scoring assists and steals.
Scouting Nevada
Through 29 games, the Bulldogs have shown a propensity for putting teams away when getting halftime leads. Fresno State is 16-0 when leading at the half. Only once during those 15 games have the Bulldogs even surrendered a second-half lead (Feb. 12 vs. San Jose State). On the other side, the Bulldogs have come back from a halftime deficit five times, with four of those coming on the road (San Jose State, San Diego State, Boise State, New Mexico).
Limit the turnovers  Â
Ranking No. 15 in the nation in turnovers per game (12.1), Fresno State saw its first half of the season without a turnover come at Boise State. Though the Bulldogs have gone 20-plus minute stretches without a turnover, it was the first full half without one. Fresno State's ninth and final turnover of the game came with 3:40 in the second quarter just before BSU took a 17-point lead. Since that game though, Fresno State has committed at least 13 turnovers in seven of the last nine games.Â
- The 'Dogs are currently on pace to set a record for a new program low as the current record stands at 13.65.
- The Bulldogs have committed less than 10 turnovers on seven occasions.
Offensive show  Â
With an offense that has not averaged north of 70 since 2014, this season's Bulldogs look to far exceed the averages of the previous five seasons. Averaging more than six points better than last year, Fresno State ranks second in the Mountain West and No. 23 in the NCAA in scoring offense at 75.5 points per game.
- The Bulldogs' current average is 0.4 points lower than the program record set during the 2010-11 season.
- The 'Dogs are leading the league in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by 9.7 per game.
Top-down  Â
The Bulldogs have proved to be successful when their starters are producing. Fresno State is 22-1 when its starting five has outscored its opponents' five, while going 1-5 when its group has been outscored.Â
- Fresno State is 7-0 when at least four of its starters reach double figures.
A special trio   Â
No team in the country can claim to have three players rank in the top four in scoring in its conference, except Fresno State. The Bulldogs' All-Mountain West trio of Haley Cavinder (4th - 15.6), Hanna Cavinder (3rd - 15.7) and Maddi Utti (2nd - 15.8) rank two through four in the Mountain West in scoring.Â
- Fresno State is one of two teams in the country, along with Oregon, to have three players average at least 15 points per game.
- Utti is the only player to rank in the top 5 in the MW in scoring, rebounding and steals. Haley is  the only player to rank in the top 10 in MW scoring, rebounding and assists. Hanna is the only the player in the MW to rank in the top 10 in scoring, assists and steals.
- In 14 of Fresno State's 29 games, the trio of Maddi Utti, Hanna Cavinder and Haley Cavinder have been the Bulldogs' top three scorers.
- Fresno State is 12-2 when the trio are the team's top three scorers.
- The three have combined for more 20-point games than any other team in the league (28).
Doing it all  Â
A player who has done just about everything asked of her, Maddi Utti has lived up to her preseason all-conference billing through 29 games, ranking in the top six in the MW in scoring (2nd), rebounding (3rd), field-goal percentage (3rd), steals (1st), offensive rebounds (5th) and defensive rebounds (3rd).
- Utti leads the league and ranks 20th in the NCAA in field goals made (196) and is 24th in steals (70).
- On Jan. 18, just over halfway through her junior season, Maddi Utti became the 25th player in Fresno State history to join the 1,000-point club. She currently ranks No. 20 with 1,150 points.
H&H Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Fresno State's twin duo of Haley and Hanna Cavinder have combined to average 31.3 points per game this season. The combined average is the highest for a set of twins this year in Division I (26 sets).
- The Cavinders are the only set of freshmen averaging at least 25 points per game.
- The two have combined for 40 or more points in six games. Fresno State is 6-0 in those games.
A freshman among rare company                    Â
Haley Cavinder has put herself among some of the best in the nation. Averaging 15.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists, the freshman is one of seven players in the NCAA averaging at least 15, 7 and 3. Cavinder is joined on the list by Valerie Higgins (Pacific), Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon), Erica Johnson (Ohio), Stella Johnson (Rider), Rachel Thompson (Colgate) and Megan Walker (UConn).
- At 5-foot-6, Cavinder is the only player on the list who is under 5-foot-10.
- She is the only freshman among the group and is one of two underclassmen.
Dualing impacts     Â
With similar point totals, Hanna Cavinder ranks 11th among freshmen in the NCAA at 15.7 per game (455) while Haley Cavinder ranks 12th at 15.6 (451). While both are currently on pace to break Jaleesa Ross' freshman scoring record of (421; 12.8 ppg) their scoring is similar as they rank as two of the top freshmen in the country but how Haley and Hanna have gotten to their totals has been different.Â
Don't forget about me  Â
While much of the attention this season has gone to Fresno State's top three scorers, Aly Gamez has been the straw that's stirred the drink, doing the little things while also producing one clutch shot after another in recent weeks. Since returning to court on Jan. 1 after a three-week absence in December to get ready for the conference slate. Gamez has averaged 12.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in conference play.
- A flair for the dramatics, Gamez hit a game-winning buzzer beater against Colorado State (Jan. 22) and connected on a go-ahead 3-pointer with 52 seconds remaining at New Mexico.
- An X-factor this season after being the Bulldogs' No. 3 option last year, the Bulldogs are 13-1 this season when Gamez reaches double figures scoring.
