BULLDOG BONES
- Fresno State Athletics is celebrating its centennial year and the 2021 football season is the 100th season of competition in program history.
- On Friday, Sept. 24, Fresno State Athletics announced it will retire the number 22 jersey in recognition of Bulldog fullback Lorenzo Neal (1990-92). The retirement celebration will take place at this weekend's game versus Nevada.
- With a win on Saturday, Fresno State would become bowl eligible for the first time since 2018.
- Fresno State is 3-0 at home this season with wins against UConn (Aug. 28), Cal Poly (Sept. 11) and UNLV (Sept. 24).
- Fresno State's homecoming game means a little extra this season, as it has not played a home game since Sept. 24 when it hosted UNLV in its conference opener. It will be 29 days since the Bulldogs played a game at Bulldog Stadium.
- Fresno State played six straght games to open up the season, one of only six FBS schools to play six games heading into week six of the college football season.
- Fresno State's 2021 team captains are quarterback Jake Haener, running back Ronnie Rivers, defensive end David Perales and linebacker Tyson Maeva.
- Twenty three first-year 'Dogs have played in at least one game on the year.
- Fresno State won the turnover battle (and the game) behind five turnovers gained (4 INT, 1 FR) and no turnovers lost. It was the most turnovers gained by the Bulldogs since 2019. The Bulldogs scored all 17 of their points off of turnovers last weekend.
- The Bulldogs recorded their first two-shutout season since 2017. Since 2000, Fresno State has recorded eight shutouts. In the 100-year history of the program, the Bulldogs have 105 shutouts and 32 seasons with multiple shutouts in a single season.
- Haener ranks in the top 10 in seven statistical categories among FBS players this season. The Bulldog QB is in the top five in four of those areas.
- The Bulldogs have made quick work on the offensive scoring drives, having eight touchdown scoring drives this season that have been scored in less than 1:00.
- Senior running back Ronnie Rivers became the program's all-time leading touchdown scorer with touchdown No. 45 of his career against UConn on Aug. 28.
- Cropper is just one receiving touchdown shy of breaking into the top 10 in career receiving touchdowns. He would become the first Bulldog on the list since KeeSean Johnson (2015-18).
- Fresno State's defense has registered at least 8.0 tackles for loss in five of seven games played this season. The Bulldogs are third in the FBS in total tackles for loss (56.0) and are averaging 8.0 TFL per game this season, enough for third in the FBS.
