Bulldogs open outdoor season at Central California Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State opens its outdoor season on Saturday afternoon at the Central California Invitational at FPU Track. The meet, hosted by Fresno Pacific, replaces the Sunbird Invitational (Feb. 20) which was previously scheduled to serve as the Bulldogs' opener.

With the cancellation of the Sunbird Invitational, Fresno State has had an extra two weeks of practice prior to Saturday's outdoor opener.

Back for the first time since 2018
Saturday will mark the first appearance for Vanja Spaic for the Bulldogs since the 2018. Following back-to-back Second Team All-America honors in the javelin, the senior redshirted the 2019 season due to injury and was unable to compete last year due to the coronavirus pandemic canceling all NCAA athletics. Spaic holds the school record with a mark of 52.93m/173-8.

New outdoor 'Dogs
Eight Fresno State athletes are slated to make their first outdoor appearances for the Bulldogs on Saturday, six from the women's team and two from the men's team.
